It’s the latest craze in the coffee world. Starbucks is doing it. And I don’t know why I haven’t been doing this sooner. I am an avid coffee drinker (in case you don’t know via my Instagram). And in the summer I LOVE iced coffee. But I haven’t been able to replicate a good recipe at home yet. Either its watered down or too dark. It was always too much work for me to be bothered with it. So I order mine out, allll summer long! CHA-CHING, yikes, right? Continue reading Cold Brewed Coffee

Oatmeal Whatever Bars Recipe at MadeByMeggs(dot)com (1)

This was a recipe E picked out herself from her Sesame Street C is for Cooking cookbook. I bought this book a long time ago, well before having kids. So we had had it on hand for a while, but never picked anything to cook from it. I’ve always loved the idea of having kids in the kitchen with you. Maybe it was all the days of making breakfast with my dad on the weekend, or baking with my mom, or even acting as the “pantry runner” during dinner prep… I grew up in the kitchen, and I want the same things for my kids. Who hasn’t been making eggs since they were old enough to stand on a chair by the stove? I know I have been making eggs my whole life. Ever since I was old enough to scramble them in a giant mixing bowl with my dad on the weekend. (His secret was always adding parsley for a touch of color & flavor.)Β But what I didn’t know, until recently, was that I’ve been cooking them allllll wrong! Continue reading Learning to Cook Eggs

We have been in our house several years now. Its a great neighborhood, filled with families & kids. Plenty of open space & playgrounds near by. We love it here. The cherry on the top have been our neighbors. Both retired now, and love having us next door as much as we love them. They have grown into family, like grandparents to the kids. Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Banana Bread - More at MadeByMeggs(dot)com

I love banana bread. My mom always baked this when I was younger and there is just something about it that calls to me! The comfort of a warm stove, the fun of mixing it up together, the sweet but semi-guilt free snack to enjoy… Once I see my bananas getting a bit to brown… you know, when you forgot they were there & when you open them its gonna be total smush on the inside… Well those bananas are perfect for this bread!
